14Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Reflect and Pray:
E.B. White, the writer of Charlotte’s Web, said “I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve the world and a desire to enjoy the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.”
I understand those words, don’t you? We can feel guilty or paralyzed by the conflict between a yearning to help those whose circumstances are currently extremely hard, and a look at our own situation which may seem, by comparison, and at a particular moment, relatively trouble-free.
There is really no resolution to this internal struggle. But as we live with our clashing feelings, we are called to continue to grow as people who deeply appreciate joy and beauty, and who also want to alleviate the pain of others. Today, let us pray that all our thoughts, words and deeds bring glory to God.
