I John 3:18-22
Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action. And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our hearts before him whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God; and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and do what pleases him.
Reflect and Pray:
The word hearts used in this passage may be a way of talking our conscience that prompts good or bad choices. All of the discussion of love in 1 John is based on upon the love in the community of faith. How can we as a church family be supportive and encouraging of one another in the good times and the bad? It is when we love, help and encourage one another that the love of God is expressed in human form. Surely, this bring a smile to the face of God. Next time someone you know has made a bad choice see how you can encourage and support them.
