Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.
Reflect and Pray:
The words “good” and “love” are a pair of words used often in the Psalms to describe God’s character. “Follow me” can also be translated “pursue me.” Usually, it is the enemies who pursue or chase the psalmist. However, in this case the enemies are present; but they aren’t a threat, and they may even be at the table.
So, the passage indicates we are pursued or chased daily by God’s “goodness and faithful love.” What promise! “I…live” indicates we are always in God’s presence. What does it mean to you that you are chased and pursued by God’s love and goodness?
