Spread the love

 Romans 8:25-27

Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Reflect and Pray:

I admit it!  I have to be honest!  Some days I simply don’t know what or how to pray.  However, Paul reminds me in the passage it isn’t always up to me.  When I am overwhelmed, all I have to do is trust the Spirit of God, alive and well in our world, in our midst and in my heart, to work on my behalf.

This is not always easy for people like me who like to be in control.  I want to know how things are going to work out, I want to be in charge.  I believe, much to my chagrin, times like these when I don’t know how to pray are a gift from God to remind me that I am not in control of all things – God is!  Does that ever free me up from a lot of responsibility! That is, if I will let it!  Are you a control freak?  Pray today that you might surrender the need to always be in control!
